Local Gymnasts Have Chance to Qualify for 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championship

This weekend, Everest Gymnastics Athletes, Gabbie Gallentine and Lauren Little, will compete in the Junior Elite Division of the GK U.S. Classic at the Schottenstein Center at Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio.

Gallentine is from Iron Station, N.C. She started gymnastics at the young age of 6 in South Carolina and came to Everest Gymnastics in 2010. Her favorite event is the uneven bars, because she says it is fun and comes naturally to her. She will be competing to qualify for a spot at the U.S. Gymnastics Championships.

Little is from Mooresville, N.C. and started gymnastics before she could barely walk at the age of 1. Her favorite event is the floor exercise, because she loves to perform. Little hopes to qualify to the Junior National Team, which will be announced following the U.S. Championships in August.

The GK U.S. Classic is the last opportunity for female gymnasts to qualify for the 2018 U.S. Gymnastics Championships, the national championships for men’s and women’s artistic gymnastics. Both gymnasts must achieve a score of 51 in the All-Around to move on. The U.S. Championships will be held August 16-19 in Boston.
