USA Gymnastics has announced that Everest Gymnastics’ Everest Classic has been selected as an Elite National Qualifier for the upcoming 2020 season. Everest, along with five other organizations, will provide the nation’s most elite gymnasts with an opportunity to qualify for the sport’s top competitions, the Hopes Classic or US and American Classics.
These competitions will take place ahead of the 2020 U.S. Olympic gymnastics trials, which will determine the U.S. gymnastics teams for the Tokyo Summer Games. The trials will be held June 25-28, 2020 at the Enterprise Center in St. Louis.
“Everest Gymnastics is continually turning out some of the top gymnasts in the country and year after year, gymnasts from across the region travel to the Charlotte region to compete in the Everest Classic,” said Qi Han and Yiwen Chen, coaches and co-owners of Everest Gymnastics. “We are honored that USA Gymnastics has selected us as an Elite National Qualifier and we will use this distinction to solidify that the Everest Classic is a staple meet.”
The 9th annual Everest Classic will be held at the Rock Hill Sports and Events Center on February 21-23, 2020. The Everest Classic will be among one of the first sporting events hosted in the brand-new facility, which will connect Winthrop University to Old Town Rock Hill. The new indoor center will have features including a 12,500 square foot Championship Court with 1,200 stadium seats, as well as a 72,000 square foot Main Court with 700 permanent seats.
