Everest Gymnastics' Kaylen Morgan Prepares for International Debut With Women's U.S. National Team

Cornelius-based Everest Gymnastics is proud to announce that local gymnast, Kaylen Morgan, of Huntersville, N.C., has been named to the Women’s U.S. National Team. The 14-year-old will make her debut as a junior member during her first international assignment for the team, as she competes in the 2019 Gymnix International in Montreal, Que., Canada, March 8-10.

“This is such an incredible honor for Kaylen, as it has been her dream to represent our country in gymnastics,” said Han Qi and Yiwen Chen, owners and coaches at Everest Gymnastics. “Kaylen has worked so hard for this, and her Everest family will be cheering her on as she competes in Canada.”  

Kaylen was one of 25 gymnasts across the country selected for the Women’s U.S. National Team, including Olympic gold medalist Simone Biles. She is one of only eight juniors on the team.  During her nearly four years of training at Everest Gymnastics, Kaylen has competed in the 2016 Women’s Junior Olympic National Championships, the 2017 Hopes Championships and the 2018 Nastia Liukin Cup.

The competition schedule for the International Cup is: March 8 – 7 p.m., senior team and all-around finals; March 9 – 6:30 p.m., junior team and all-around finals; and March 10 – 1:40 p.m. junior and senior event finals. The March 8-9 sessions serve as the qualification round for the event finals.
